The Sjöström Lab

To understand learning and memory, we explore brain plasticity.

THE PLASTIC BRAIN - Information is stored in the brain by changing the strength of connections between neurons. This is known as synaptic plasticity.

WHEN PLASTICITY GOES AWRY - When recruited too much or too little, synaptic plasticity may lead to neuropathologies such as epilepsy or Alzheimer disease.

METHODS - We use two-photon laser scanning microscopy, quadruple whole-cell recordings, optogenetics,  and computer modelling. Learn more...

TEAM - We are a small dynamic group of productive people who collaboratively work together in partially overlapping projects. Learn more...

PUBLICATIONS - Our output is a balanced mix of primary research, methods development, and scholarly reviews. Learn more...
